5 Gallon Fuel Tank

The latest Development on buying the 20 liter (5 Gallon) fuel tank for the Virago XV1000 & XV1100:

Highway Hawk, the manufacturer, doesn't make this tank for the Virago anymore. Please try to email them, phone them, even knock on their door to show them how much we want this tank! Be warned though, their website has ALWAYS been poor at best, especially when trying to contact them!

Not to despair though, you can order an uninished tank from SeegerCycles. They ain't cheap though!

I am CANADIAN

When I first got my bike, I was getting about 160 Km (100 Miles), around town and 200 Km (124 Miles) on the highway. When I added the 5 Gal tank, my range went up to 240km (162 Miles) around town and on the highway, I managed 340 Km (211 Miles), before hitting the reserve switch. I'm very happy with the change.

The new tank is a direct replacement for the original XV1000 & XV1100 Virago tank. The fuel nipples and mounts are all the same. There's even a cut out to install the "Low Fuel" sender unit. The only difference in the two fuel tanks are the size and the need to buy a Vented Harley Gas Cap. So the total price, in Canadian funds, was $320 for the tank, $10 for the cap, $150 for the Fuel Sender and $500 for the paint job. I wanted a GOOD paint job! $980 total ($600 USD). If you want to save a few dollars, you can use the Fuel Sender Unit from your old tank, but I wanted a new one.
